I just wanted to put of a couple quick pics of a harvest this week, and another new harvest basket (thanks, mom!).
And another great thing going on in the garden- Watermelon!
Watermelon ‘Red Little Baby Flower F1’
The bench was nearby, so I decided to use it to support the watermelon- I hope you can see them :).
The bush beans are doing really well- but I gotta say that I’m not really impressed with the taste compared to pole beans. They are heavy producers, however.
Bush Bean ‘Blue Lake 274’
The marigold seems to be doing well with them- these are the ones I started in the cold frame a while back, and I moved them to different places in the garden. That is a pepper in the front- it doesn’t seem too happy, but then it was purchased and probably had some shock when planted.

Yeah I gave up on bush beans a while back. I like the pole variety too much. Now if only I could find a way to give them a 10' pole and still be able to pick it. Though if you can beans I can so understand wanting the bush variety. Then they all come in at once.
Your veggies always look so pretty! How cool to have watermelons, I never would've thought they could grow around here.
Normally I'm not a marigold fan, but the ones you have are really pretty, almost like a zinnia.
Do you have this horrible heat there?
I love how the watermelon is growing over the logs, tree, whatever it is. What a beautifully peaceful setting.
Daphne- I hear ya, this is the second time I've tried them just a different variety. Maybe I'll look into a heirloom variety there has to be a good tasting one out there somewhere!
Catherine- Thanks! The I normally don't like Marigold much either, but I found these last year and gathered the seed for this year. Unfortunately, I mixed the seeds so the variety is either Dwarf Bolero or Disco Mix, I'll go with the latter because I have another envelope labeled just that (only) and the words 'love these' on it :). The watermelon is a mini.
Ribbit- The watermelon was draped over a bench that was made for me out of tree limbs- glad you like it.
The watermelon plant, baby melons and the wood makes a pretty picture.

Yes, your bounty is beautiful! That's a nice looking basket, too. I planted some cantaloupe, but it is very slow in growing. Rabbits ate my green beans after I got one meal out of them. I thought that once they got large enough to produce, the rabbits wouldn't be interested in them.

Allotments4you- Watermelon needs sun, sun, sun! And we've had plenty this year, thankfully. It also helps that I've chosen a mini variety, 5" harvest size :)
